Tutoring center attendance sheet in Excel: free template
For a few classes, a well-built sheet is enough. Download the template, open it in Excel or Google Sheets, and fill in one row per student per lesson.
Below: how to use it, and when a spreadsheet stops being enough.
Opens in Excel and Google Sheets. Free, no sign-up.
How to use it
Each row is one student in one lesson on one date: date, class, subject, teacher, student, attendance, and a comment.
In the attendance column use three values: Π for present, Α for absent, and Δ for excused. You can then count absences with a filter or a pivot table.
Keep one file per month and a single shared version, so copies do not diverge.
If the sheet keeps growing, see what breaks as a tutoring center grows.
When a sheet stops being enough
- More than one person records attendance on the same day
- A parent asks to see their child's absences
- A teacher leaves and the history stays in their notebook
- Attendance has to connect to grades or tuition
- The front desk resends the same details by message
When you need more
Paideus's digital attendance keeps the history per class and shows it to parents.
Frequently asked questions
Is it really free?
Yes. The template downloads without sign-up and you can adapt it freely.
Does it work in Google Sheets?
Yes. Open the CSV in Google Sheets or Excel and save it as a spreadsheet.
Can I give it to my teachers?
You can, but keep one shared version. When teachers keep their own copies, the history splits.
Want parents to see attendance too?
See how attendance is recorded per class and how a parent sees it, without a second sheet.
